Teaching salaah to children has to start since they were young.
Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As, narrated that the Apostle of Allah, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, said, "Command your children to make salah when they become seven years old, and spank them for it (salah) when they become ten years old, and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately." (Abu Dawud).
Salaah is very important to muslims as the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w (sallaahu alaihi wasallam) said in the hadith that was narrated by Abdullah ibn Qart ...
"The first act that the slave (of Allah) will be accountable for on the day of judgement will be the prayer. If it is good, then the rest of his acts will be good. And if it is evil, then the rest of his acts will be evil." (Tabarani)
So it is upon us (parents/teachers) to teach them how to pray according to the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w (sallahu alaihi wasallam).
Talibiddeenjr.com has a complete list of adhkaar and reminders for making salaah. I printed out the tashahhud supplication page for my daughter. The adhkaar were devided into small sections, which made it much more easier for her.
She read them and I corrected her. After that, she sat with it and read. She even read it to her little brother too and he followed her. And mashaAllah, she could could memorize it within one week, alhamdulillah.
